This Creamy Spiced Hot Chocolate combines the deep flavor of cocoa with a hint of warming spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s a cozy, indulgent drink that’s quick to make and perfect for cold mornings or relaxing evenings.
2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 Tbsp sugar (or honey, to taste)
¼ tsp cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
¼ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Whipped cream for topping (optional)
In a small saucepan, whisk together cocoa powder, sugar, and 2 Tbsp of milk until smooth.
Add the rest of the milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Heat gently over medium heat, whisking constantly, until hot but not boiling.
Stir in vanilla extract if using.
Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream if desired, and serve immediately.
For extra richness, replace part of the milk with cream.
Add a pinch of chili powder or cayenne for a Mexican-style hot chocolate.
Use dark cocoa powder for a deeper flavor.
